If you don’t have the time to soak and ferment batter for regular idlis, then use the Double Horse Idli Rava (semolina) to make a quick and easy alternative that is equally delicious!
The method of preparing rava or semolina idlis is usually the same, with personal variations in the tempering.
– 1 cup rava is mixed with ½ cup yogurt or buttermilk, 2-3 tsp oil and seasoned with 1 tsp urad and chana dal, chillies and curry leaves. A pinch of fruit salt or baking soda is also added to make the idlis fluffy and soft. These are then steamed for 10-15 minutes in the idli cooker and served hot with sambhar or coconut chutney.
